The Professional Patient

Hi there!

I am new to this blogging world, and I currently only have one functioning hand and a lot of neuro-fatigue, so please be patient with me. I started this blog to create a healthy space to talk about my personal experience and to try to be a resource for others. After I suffered a stroke at a young age, all the resources my family and I could find after my stroke were aimed at older populations. Additionally, healthcare professionals have little to no training with young stroke patients, so their resources are extremely limited as well. A twist to my story is that prior to my stroke, I worked in healthcare. After my experience on the patient-side, I have many passionate thoughts about what I have noticed in and out of the hospital. This includes topics related to my fellow healthcare professionals. I also hope to create a window for friends, family and caretakers to better understand what their loved one is going through. I openly extend a warm welcome to healthcare professionals who would like to learn from a patient's perspective outside of the hypotheticals of their training experiences in order to become a better, more patient, and understanding provider.
